Our Conductors

Miroslava Paches: Conductor

Miroslava Paches was named director of Koshetz Choir in June 2007, bringing both her
youthful vigour and her excellent experience and credentials to open a new chapter in the life of the choir. Graduating from the Lviv State Music Academy (Theory, Composition, Musicianship), she completed earlier studies at the Uzhorod State Music College ( Majors in Piano, Choral Conducting, and Music Theory).

Today, Miroslava conducts both the adult and children’s choirs at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. She creates new compositions and arrangements for all of the choirs, heard in celebration of the liturgy and in concert. She maintains a very active private music studio, teaching piano, voice, and theory, with numerous successful entries in the Winnipeg Music Festival. She is married to Maxim Paches, and has three young sons, Stepan, Yaroslav,
and Alexander.

John Tanner: Assistent Conductor

John Tanner has been singing with the Olexander Koshetz choir since 1991. When he retired in 2007 he went to music school, and graduated in 2012 with M.Mus. in choral conducting from the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba. John is honored and delighted to be Assistant Conductor and Accompanist of Koshetz under the superb leadership of Maestra Miroslava Paches. Apart from music, John enjoys the company of his wife, Evie, and their four children and twelve grandchildren.
